I always like to know this when I’m first getting to know someone. It really tells a lot about a person and immediately lets me know if the relationship should be furthered. I also like to do this whenever someone is being annoying and I slip it in there as kind of a trump card.. I’ve done this for years.

Lately my wife has been making comments about how rude this is?? I really don’t think it’s that big of a deal.

I like to ask pregnant women if their unborn child is a property owner. Whatever their response is I shake my head and say that's a damn shame.

Yeah that's not exactly the best ice breaker, chief. Hell you know what? Let's just put all our cards on the table and discuss all our finances and medical history, too!

What are you doing hanging around people who there is even a light doubt whether they own property? Sorry about being poor

I don't believe for one second that you actually found a woman that agreed to spend her life with you.

You sound like a stupid prick.

"Owning" property tells next to nothing about a person.

My brother "owns" a house. He's broke AF.
We rent for now, but are high net worth (for our age).

In addition, even if it was some certain indicator of wealth, who gives a shite.

I ask people with an LSU hat or shirt on, when we’re you there? 95% of the time…I just grew up an LSU fan.

Never thought to ask someone if they were a homeowner.

Once I asked a rancher how many head of cattle he ran. Having grown up on a cattle ranch it was something I could relate to and small talk about.

He looked at me and said, “that’s kind of like asking a man how much money he has in the bank. Not really any of your business.”

Thought it was kind of a dick thing to reply with but whatever.
