Seems like all females have "anxiety" nowadays. Such a cop out to being crazy and not knowing how to figure things out.

Nah that shite started in the 1800s in Austria. It was very popular with females back then and still is today though

Been going on for a long time and men do it to now for the drugs. Every time I seen old friends who have done 0 with their lives never fail to mention their anxiety.

I have a theory. Since we have moved toward "equal" rights, women have taking on more of male roles in society (even if they don't really want them) and they haven't had time to evolve. Their brains are in a transition period.

Everyone has anxiety, it is how you manage said anxiety. Some cope better than others like anything in life.

I know it has been around for a long time, but has it been used as a crutch by the masses for a long time?

I don't think it's a new trend(just in younger people). I also think it's way more prevalent than a lot of people realize. Having worked at the hospital for the last 5 years I'd conservatively estimate that it's included in 3-4/10 patient's past medical history. I also wonder how often it's over diagnosed. I think a lot of people go through stressful periods during their lifetime that get you pretty worked up. Obviously this leads to more worrying than usual about a lot of things. I feel that most of us probably get through it as some point though.

Just depends. Real anxiety is more of a physiological issue than a character flaw. IMO at least. Now those who go on Facebook and start blabbing about their anxiety are probably talking out of their arse more than others.

See, I highly doubt I know you, I highly doubt you know me, we likely aren't Facebook friends but you are seeing exactly what I'm talking about. It further points to it being a trend rather than shared feelings.

Yeah but I think that has a lot to do with guys in general trying to be more stoic.

I agree

I have a family member who legit has it. She suffers from it. A miserable person most of the time. She isnt one to draw attention to herself either, never complains. A few other people I know "have it", and love posting in facebook how bad they feel. Roll eyes at them

Gluten allergy is another one of those.

OCD in my opinion is worse than depression and anxiety.
