I didn’t go on a Facebook rant on Jan 1 claiming “new year, new me!” nor did I tell anyone that I was quitting drinking cokes cold turkey. Because announcing it to the world is stupid. But since this thread has come up, I figured I’d share...

I haven’t touched a come since the 1st I’m down 7 lbs (give or take. Weight fluctuates). I’ve only drank water, milk, or coffee. I’ve had a couple headaches because of the lack of caffeine but it’s not anything I couldn’t work through.

Coffee is not bad for you. Diet Coke is.

but is it actually any worse for you than drinking a cup of coffee?

Yes. Because drinking black coffee is good for you. At the very least, artificial sweeteners are shitty for your gut flora (microbiome). The cancer stuff is mixed and everything under and including the sun apparently causes cancer.

But definitely not good for you.

I'll tell you my personal experience with Diet Coke.

I used to drink Diet Cokes and started getting headaches and brain fog.

A healthcare professional I know told me that I may have gotten sensitive to Aspartame.

So I switched to drinking Diet Pepsi, as it doesn't have aspartame, it has saccharine.

Since making the switch about 6 months ago, I don't get the headaches anymore and no more of the brain fog feeling.

A few weeks ago at work, the person who went and got lunch for us brought me back a fountain Diet Coke instead of Diet Pepsi. I figured what the hell, I'll drink it. After drinking a few gulps of it, I had to throw it away. It tasted terrible to me, and I started to get dizzy from it.
