I know several gay couples. I respect their beliefs and they respect mine. It's really not that difficult.

well no...you do not respect their beliefs by actively denying them the ability to do something

So basically you are against something that does not effect you negatively in any way and does not deny you any rights......You being against it does effect others in a negative way though and does deny the rights of others. You see nothing wrong with this?

Why do I have the feeling that those opposed in this thread are big fans of the "Dear Mr. Atheist video?"

How is he actively denying them anything?

Being against something and actively denying are vastly different.

Ive got an idea!!! If you do not believe in same sex marriage don't marry someone of the same sex instead of trying to impose your beliefs on someone else!!!

it just blows my mind how someone can be against it

you can disagree with the gay lifestyle and condemn them all you want, but to actively deny a group of people the ability to do something that does not affect you in any way is truly pathetic

I assume most of these idiots consider themselves "freedom loving" conservatives too

I'm against gay marriage because I don't like their gayness being forced on me and I hear homosexuality is contagious.

It's pretty simple. It's what I believe and if it effects others because they choose to be gay that's fine. I can live with that. Say what you want I stand against it and will not change.

If that make me a crappy person for standing up for what I believe, so be it. Pick a number and get in line. The people I know that are gay respect it so I could care less what anyone else thinks.

And personally this is why I usually don't get involved with these threads because, I'm in know way going to change my beliefs or anyone else's.And I would expect the same for anybody else that believes something. So have a good day. And continue to stand for what you believe in no matter what.

I've always liked girls. For a little while there, when I became socially akward in my teenage years, and the other kids were teasing me that I was gay, I thought maybe I was. As a confused and ridiculed teenager, I tried it. I was always a top, never could bring myself to be a bottom. Decided I didn't like it all, and have only been with women since.

So if I believe in something, you will vote for it if it otherwise deny me of something I want?

Calling people who disagree with you "idiots" doesn't lend much to an honest discussion.

cool

I sincerely hope one day something that you love to do or own is taken away from you because others disagree with it

and I'll watch you totally respect those beliefs of the others and give up whatever you love

Happens to all of us all the time.

I'm disappointed you chose the sarcasm route.

Your hate for the "other side" is just as real as "theirs."

I think the problem people have is that you are unable to articulate why you are against it other than saying you think it is wrong.

I don't publicly support gay marriage and I won't. That movement has been hijacked by nut cases that villainize Christianity.

Gay marriage has nothing to do with christianity. Gay people don't want to get married in your our lady of the metal building church. It has nothing to do with God's Law and everything to do with the actual laws that affect human beings in this lifetime.

the difference in my "hate" is that I'm not denying anyone the ability to do something

The difference is that your "hate" is yours. It's not better or worse. It's through your lense and what you want.

Others have different views.

As for me, I'm not for it or against it.
