You need to buy a lottery ticket, Guilbeau.

Well nothing went sideways. I just didn’t know they wouldn’t transfer luggage to a diff airline. Lesson learned. I booked it on Google flights and got a round trip to Denver for $90. Now I see why lol
Glad you learned a lesson from this. Remember, no matter what you’re shopping for, if you find one of that item that costs a lot less than the others, the first thing you should do is ask yourself why is it that one cost so much less. The old saying “you get what you pay for” is very true even today.

Fo sho. I thought 1.5 hours would be just enough but y’all have me second guessing.

But did he? That's TBD. You know the travel board is full of people that make the same mistakes over, and over, and over again. 80% of the mistakes are by using OTAs, but every week, more threads about the same old shite.

1.5 is enough if it's not summer in Atlanta, and you're not collecting and re-checking luggage in between tight flights. You had good weather today. Don't count on it happening again.

Don’t check a bag…problem solved
Posted on 10/31/23 at 7:22 pm to Master Guilbeau
It can be, yes.
Should you assume it is? No.
Don’t forget to time it by your boarding time, not your flight time. Makes that mistake once at BTR and walked up as they were boarding.

Why are there always some people who think not checking a bag is something to brag about?

Or just plan better. Maybe you got liquids, maybe you have to check a firearm (which I lost in the river accident.)
You understand that the way he booked that, even if he didn't have a checked bag, makes his life suck if his initial flight is late, and he can't run between the T gate and a C gate in time, even using the tram? Stop being a simpleton, and anticipate potential problems.
This message brought to you buy a dude that has missed two flights (only one of them due to me) in 20 years. But you can have your own opinion.

I think it applies when you have to recheck your checked bags and you only have a 1 1/2 hour layover in the busiest airport in America.

This is a big mistake.
I think you can do it, but you’ll be close. If your flight into ATL gets delayed you’re screwed. Pre check should help you out.

ATL.
Two airlines (Spirit and unknown) that don't have an interline agreement to transfer bags.

so let me get this straight. most likely get off at 'D' Terminal if it's Spirit. go to main term to claim luggage, then re-check said luggage, go through TSA, then to the departure gate? wouldn't want to try it. but could be done I guess.
Also, flying Spirit into ATL there's a 50/50 chance there won't be a gate available upon landing and you'll go sit in timeout until one opens up.

Atlanta is the black hole of airports. Everything gets stuck in Atlanta.

I've sat on the runway for two hours because ground crew couldn't unload luggage due to lightning.
It didn't matter whether you had checked luggage or not, we weren't getting off the plane, or even getting to the gate.

You will exit the gangway onto Concourse D at around 5:20. Run to the tram to get on for the ride down to baggage claim. Retrieve your baggage off the carousel at 5:35. From there, expect 30-40 minutes to clear security. Should be about 6:05 when you clear security and the plane begins boarding. Depending on which concourse and gate your next flight departs from , it will take 8-15 minutes if your gate is close to the center of the concourse or 12-20 if the gate is near the end of the concourse. Hopefully, it is concourse A or B (first stops for the tram.) That will be on the 8-12 minute end of the spectrum. Concourse C will take 10-14 minutes and D or E will take 12-20 minutes. But if your plane has a 5-10 minute delay arriving at the gate, you won’t make it. Best case scenario , you get to your next gate about 10 minutes before they close the door on the plane.
If you can pack everything into a carry-on you can save 5-10 minutes by not diverting to the baggage carousel and waiting for it to come up. Just hustle down and get in security check line.

Was in ATL last week for work. The dogs were out when I caught my flight out. Took over an hour to get through security because of them.
Good luck.
Good luck.
