Meh. It depends on what you want to do with them. The 2dr is superior with its shorter wheelbase and turn radius for rock crawling....but an experienced driver is going to be able to take a properly modified Unlimited on all those trails anyway.

There are some beautiful overland Unlimiteds out there.

Walk-around of OvrlndX

That is a rig that he can take on pretty much any trail and be gone for days on end without any problem. There are some good solutions out there for a 2dr overlander, but it is hard to argue with what you can do with the extra room in the back of an unlimited with all the seats out.

And this is all coming from someone with a 2dr.

Your hero couldn’t pull a greased string out a figs arse.

I got 240k miles on a. Duramax and can pull everything from a house trailer to your fat ex gf.

Just saw a black Shelby Raptor the other day. Never saw one before. Pretty bad arse looking.

Nothing says alpha like a watered down version of a once-great offroader that has been strethched out to carry groceries...and given an automatic transmission.

You want an automatic for offroading.

Well, real offroading. Not high rev mud NASCAR.

I prefer manual, but I can see where auto would be better for rocks.

Pretty much why everyone runs an auto now.

And runs a JK (now JL). Longer wheelbase.

No one is running a 'real jeep' 2 door without a hell of a stretch.

Do you know what a stock Rubicon is capable of?

Long, automatic transmission Jeeps are better than short, manuals for most off-roaders. (Rockcrawling)

I love the minimalism of older jeeps, but they suck compared to new jeeps. I think the TJ hit the spot on balancing the two, plus it has the 4.0L.
