You needed to be carrying and, after that kick, get the gat and finish it! Sorry, not sorry, pit bull has to go. My next door neighbors have 2 PB mixes and only 1 occasionally gets out. He will charge at me but I call his name and he then eases in for me to pet it. Then I tell it to go home and it does.
If I was another neighbor on the street just walking, then he may chase and bite. I don’t know for sure. I have a husky/Shepard mix and they grab arse play sometimes when the PB gets out.
Now, the neighbor across the street to the left brought home 2 PB pups. They are already 60+ pounds and they stay inside or in stay in a small Ace fencing area. I suspect those may be trouble when they find a way to get out. PBs, when they have a buddy, often attack other dogs and/or kids. Maybe it is pack mentality at that point.

everyone knows you grab a pitbull by the back legs and kick it in the sternum relentlessly until it lets go, but you cant let go of the legs or you back to square 1.

No? Call EBR Animal Control. Tell them you are checking on Milo the Pitbull that attacked the Great Pyrenees and bit a man last Monday.
They are keeping him for 10 days for observation and then the owner has to pay a fine to get his evil arse back.

From past experiences, owners I know of pit bulls love playing the sympathy card. “Yeah bruiser loves ripping up your shoe and/or hand, but if you give him a belly rub he’ll love you forever”

My cousin was attacked by a pit just the other day walking in his neighborhood. The damn thing had already mauled a dog a few months ago and the idiot woman didn't change any of her behavior after that incident (she's small and can't control the pit, but walks it in the front yard with an extendable leash). He got a bunch of stitches and the dog is getting put down because this dumb woman thought she could control the monster but never put in the effort to do it.
