They need to trim the fat. Actually tech companies are supposed to be able to scale and increase profits without increasing employee costs really.

Bloated HR departments, highly paid diversity , equity and inclusion officers, and non performing employees hired when money was basically free need to go.

Actually increases the company’s profitability. Not necessarily a sign of trouble. Just that they’re better re-deploying cash on hand and revenue.

Microsoft has over 200k employees.. Zero chance they are laying off "half of all managers".

They announced a while back they were cutting almost 5% of the workforce.

The metaverse team was first getting the cut

Microsoft

Yes every big tech company wasted money on this garbage.

quote:

Like other major tech companies, Microsoft is reducing its headcount in a bid to lower operating costs. The company last month announced a restructuring initiative that will see it let go 10,000 employees, or about 5% of its workforce. The layoffs reported today were made as part of the initiative.

The layoffs saw Microsoft disband its recently formed Industrial Metaverse Core group, according to The Information. About 100 employees are leaving the company in connection with the move.

Hey, don't let the truth come in the way of posting a sensational headline and the opportunity to mindlessly say "go woke, go broke"
