You have to know the serial number, what it's made of, general condition, how much stretch is in the bracelet, etc. Unless it got stomped on it's worth over $1,000. If it's stainless and Gold with diamonds on the face and in good condition it's probably worth around $5000 and up.
Ok, I saw the pics and I'm guessing 2500-3500. Looks like there's a good deal of stretch in that bracelet.

That's a janky watch.

If this is the case. Does the second hand on the watch spin or tick? Since you arent a watch guy, i guess it is possible you dont know this.
In the pics you sent it looks real, but some fakes are good. Really good. My dad had a high end one from China years ago that ticked. Thing stopped working and he took it to a Rolex dealer to get looked at. Figured it was worth a shot. They opened it up, and after a few minutes said it was identical internally to a Rolex, with cheaper materials. Externally it was a perfect replica, just with cheap materials as well. Wouldnt fix it though, said they would get fired for working on a knock off. They went ahead and opened it because they, like us, were curious.

It's been to a jeweler who checked the authenticity of the watch. I'm not asking if it's real or not. I have documentation that it is real. I'm just on the internet attempting to get a feel for its worth so I know how to deal with the places I go to get it appraised and or sold. I know an appraisal will be higher than an offer to purchase. I just want to go in knowing as much as I can. I've now been told that my father in law had it appraised in NY early 2014 and they were told 5-8k. That seems really high to me but , again , I'm not a watch guy.

It seems to tick but not a sloppy noticeable tick. If that makes sense. Someone else said that I should be able to listen to the ticking and it should sound as if it ticks 5 times? Per second? Seems like it.

Watch this video. Closest thing I could find to your model with a decent view of the second hand. Compare it to yours.

It is easily possible. Most expensive Rolex I have personally seen was worth around 25K. They go much, much higher than that.

Exactly the same motion as the one I have. Watch is a bit different but yeah the movement is the same. I'm guessing the diamond numbers aren't really much of anything concerning worth?

More info is needed. What year is it? What model is it? Does it run? What shape is it in? Etc. Seriously pics needed.

That is very , very close to the watch I have. From what I've researched the only difference may be the model year. As someone pointed out mine just says "Swiss" under the 6 and not "Swiss Made" . I posted what I think is the difference with that detail. Age.

Read the thread. The only thing I have not posted is its age. I don't know that. It is a Datejust two tone gemstone dial champagne 1601. That's the info I have.

Take the bracelet off. Between the lugs on the watch case it will have the model number on the 12 o'clock side and the serial number on the 6 o'clock side. You can date it using the serial. It should match the bracelet (1979).

It works. It was serviced in July of 2014. Receipt says: (MM) clean , oil , and adjust. Gaskets.

My mom has one similar to yours, and I think my step-dad told me he paid $10k for it brand new. If it is in good shape and tuned up, I guess yours could be worth half that

It seems like it's gold and stainless / silver? Looks like it may have crystals or diamonds on numbers.

It's my father in law and no. He made all his money in investments and real estate. He's still alive but he is starting to hand things over.
