The concept that the Earth is even close to being overpopulated is a joke. Big cities are overpopulated and some highly desirable areas are overpopulated, but this planet is nowhere even close to being overpopulated.
Factoid: At the population density of Manhattan, every person in the world could live in Texas.
It's not so much a problem as how many people will fit, but where their food will come from.

Overpopulation is a much more complicated concept than how many warm bodies can fit on dry land.
No shite. And we are no where close to that.
95 percent of the Earth's current population lives on 10 percent of the land.

I believe the food shortage hysteria happened a couple decades ago already.

Yeah but only about 20% of earth's land is arable, and that's falling. There's about an acre per person alive today. If everybody ate as much meat as we do, we would have zero room for population growth right now. Actually there is not enough land available for the entire world to eat like Americans do right now.
Luckily (for us) some people are starving and others eat mostly plants. If everyone in the world were to go vegan we might have enough land for about 40 billion people.

Just because you don't see, hear, or care about it doesn't mean millions of people don't starve every year.
