In situations like the Chauvin trial, can a jury be protected?

It doesn't seem like juries were meant to function as they did for this high profile trial. How can we expect jury members to honestly deliberate and make a decision without being influenced by outsiders and / or the fear of being outed if they don't comply with the mob? Is it possible to have a truly anonymous set of jurors, where the members of the jury can serve as they were meant to, without fear of retaliation? I'm sure it could be done, where only a few people know their identities.
IMO, a jury should operate like an anonymous messageboard, such as this one, which would give jurors much more freedom to express their ideas and opinions without fear of retaliation. Instead, the jury in a high profile case like this one operates more like a private group on facebook, where there is a pretext that it is private but it really isn't.

Why protect them when you can direct them?

Why even have them in the court room where they can be seen by everyone?

How the hell do you know it wasn’t “really private” lol.
Do the jurors not learn enough about each other to leak their identity if they want?

I don't think all of them. I may have missed one or two.

They aren’t really anonymous when any Jim Bob or Jo Ann working at the courthouse probably has access to their names/information.

Judges can rule that jurors can not reveal other jurors personal information, in California for example.
I assumed that was true. But the past several years have revealed that people don't give a shite about rules or the law and will find a way to leak info if they can.

How exactly would a jury benefit from a forum where they can express opinions anonymously from a bunch of slap dicks who don’t anything about jurisprudence?
Well, you seem smart

I heard most the jurors wanted to vote not guilty but Maxine Waters powerful speech swayed their decision

I don't know about that, but it's absolutely crazy that they weren't sequestered.
