In honor of Veteran's Day, let's pay tribute to the real heroes who serve

The Dependapotamus:

quote:
According to Urban Dictionary: Traditionally a service-member's dependent who is a “stay at home mom” that doesn't do a damn thing all day besides sitting on the couch looking remarkably similar to Jabba the Hut leaching off of military benefits and eating anything that gets too close.

A friend of mine worked in the Pharmacy at the Army hospital we were stationed at. He had a dependa go off on him cause her service wasn’t fast enough. Of course she started with the “Do you know who my husband is?” crap. My buddy assumed he must have been a Major or Colonel.
Nope, dude was a Sgt/E-5.

Don't forget to salute these beautiful women and call them by their husband's rank at the ECP!

In Groton, CT we called them "Grota-pota-mus"
love how the moniker is prevalent throughout the service

I remember our sub's Navigator (O-3) being one of the skinniest dudes on the boat who had a wife that was in the upper 300's
When they stood next to each other, they looked like the number 10

You missed the "Respect OUR rank" t-shirt wearers. I hate those bitches, ran into one on Ft. Campbell. She tried to pull some BS using her husbands rank while at the PX shite pisses me off to no end.

officer's wives can get into that too

I swear young Infantry dudes try to find the fattest wife they can. It was nothing at Fort Drum to see skinny 19 or 20 year old Infantry Privates married to a 250 lbs + whale.

I have a bunch of friends who went to sub school there. I'm guessing you did as well?

guilty as charged.
I then CHOSE to stay in Groton after training. I had my option of Norfolk, Groton, or a dry-docked ship in Maine that would eventually go back to San Diego.
I chose Groton bc of my friends and the desire to "go out do something"
Oh, if we could slap our 18yo selves...

Usually those wives are O-4 and lower. After a guy hits Major he typically learns to keep his wife under control.

I had a commander at Fort Polk whose wife would bark orders at us when her fat arse would show up at certain functions. You could tell who wore the pants in that family as she was driving around in a new Ford Explorer and the CO was driving a shitty Ford Escort. She was the epitome of an entitled dependa.
One day our 1SG caught wind of what was going on and told her to stop. She finally stopped showing up.

As a long time vet, I approve of this thread...

Y’all should google “Leslie Drinkwine” to understand the full wrath of an Army spouse.

Tricareatops is another term that I have heard used for them.

I have some moments I look back on and think the same thing.
