I pretty much break even every year or owe a little.

Screw getting killed in taxes all year and getting a return

I would hope you file a return every year. If not you could be in for some serious misfortune.

They do it by taking in their last pay stub of the year in and base it on the info listed on it. There are places doing taxes right now where i live.

Well it’s not their fault you voluntarily gave them more than you actually owed.

I disagree. Personally i try to set my withholdings to where i break even, or owe, and a lot of others do the same. If folks aren’t doing this, they should because all they are doing is giving the government an interest free loan. Those who expect $5000-$10000 deserve to be heartbroken waiting on THEIR money back for not setting their withholdings correctly. I’m in no hurry for my bill or $500 bucks TBH.

Or if you are bad with money you can view it as the government being the custodian of a savings account that you can't access but once a year.

Scare tactics for poors by Democrats. If you get a large refund from IRS you’re doing it all wrong anyways. Goal is to have them draw enough out to break close to even at tax time. Otherwise you’re giving the government a loan interest free each year.

Actually, the goal is for you to owe money every year so you can make interest on their money for 25% of the year.

Or like me, you had your first child so you get a big tax credit, your wife quit working in September thus increasing the return, and you paid off a bunch of student loan debt that is deductible.

Its not always that easy. I would like the few thousand dollars I'm gonna get

$2.5k of interest is deductible. It's likely that's only a couple hundred bucks of taxes.

And that's not even an option to those who make over the threshold which is total bullshite.

Why do I not get to take advantage of that while the barista at Starbucks gets to?

If it's just going into checking it doesn't really matter either way.
