Wouldn’t you get electrocuted trying to fill up?

As we've covered in this thread 37,961 times, the A/C in an EV uses negligible battery power.
A 50kw EV Lithium battery > a 1.5kw ICE lead acid battery. A/C in an ICE is wasting fuel at a much higher rate than it's using up battery in an EV.

It’s absurd to say they don’t impact battery charge. AC doesn’t run on dairy dust and rainbow farts. I’m not saying they’ll drain the battery to nothing. But they have to draw power from the battery.
quote:If you're evacuating and not leaving with a full charge, that's not an issue with the car, that's an issue with poor planning ahead of time by the owner.
So as I said above, it all depends on how much charge the battery has when they leave.

quote:I leave Cabin Heat Protection on in my car 24/7, which means the AC goes on anytime the temp goes over I think around 100. I don't even notice the battery loss even if it's out in 98 degreed weather for 8 hours as it's just negligible.
AC uses so little power relatively speaking, many electric vehicles give the option to leave it on while PARKED.

You really are seriously one of the dumbest posters on this site

I can not imagine using an electric car in any of the above situations.
You can’t imagine using an EV to get off the interstate and get lunch?

Hey not everyone has a vivid imagination.

I still can’t figure out if you are a massive troll or a total douchebag.
For the sake of clarity, I’m going to go with both.

While the only thing drawing down the internal combustion vehicle’s power source (gas/diesel) is the engine itself, because all other systems draw electricity provided by the alternator.
Does the alternator conjure energy out of thin air?

They don't, not nearly as much as a gas powered car uses gas.
Sit in traffic 24 hours, tell me which car dies first

A model 3 can last 48 hours running the hvac, computers, etc. even after the 24 hours, it would still have 150 miles of range.

Is your argument that, In a Survival situation, you cannot run luxury amenities? Read that slowly and acknowledge you're in the 50th rank state in education in the nation
I asked a reasonable question about headlights draining power on an EV. It was answered concisely and reasonably by two people.
You however, for some reason want to bloviate about the level of education in a state that you assume I am from (which BTW has absolutely nothing to do with the original question).
So let me get this straight, you actually believe running headlights at night are a "luxury" amenity?
You are a fool.

Yeah but imagine caring about and having a vested interest in wether someone else drives an electric or ICE vehicle. That, to me, is a lot sadder

Oh yeah, tell those people that tried to get from Houston to San Antonio (normal 3 hr drive) during Rita evacuation that. Took upwards of 24 hours to do it. I had co-workers caught up in that.
I was in that traffic. 15 hours from Houston to Austin.

The EV will die not first. Sorry that makes you angry.

Facts over feelings only applies on this board when the facts support our preconceived biases.
When the facts don’t confirm to our narrative, they are made up and can’t be trusted.
This your first day here?

A fully charged EV can idle (with AC!) over twice as long as a fully fueled similarly sized ICE vehicle.
