In the majority of hurricane situations, you don't need to drive 800 miles. You can go 100 miles one way or another to get out of the direct path of the eye and be ok.

Gas powered cars are what caused the hurricane to begin with.

Which is a bigger problem for ICE vehicles than electric ones....

How is this worse in an EV?

Oh yeah, tell those people that tried to get from Houston to San Antonio (normal 3 hr drive) during Rita evacuation that. Took upwards of 24 hours to do it. I had co-workers caught up in that.

That trip, even at 24 hours would require the same number of charging stops as it would under normal circumstances. 1

You understand that gas pumps don't work with no power, right?

Does it matter the amount of time it takes to travel that 100 miles if the vehicle is not drawing power while sitting idle?

Or am I just missing some profound logic here?

You understand it’s a lot easier to store even hundreds of gallons of gas in a couple drums for your own use compared to the equivalent amount of batteries that would take to power an electric car right?
