The Citgo here alone refines 418,000 barrels per day

Louisiana alone probably has nearly 2 million bbl/day refining capacity. A huge chunk of that is just between Exxon in BR and Marathon in Garyville.

ETA: I've seen shortages in Atlanta before, but the only time I had trouble getting gasoline in Louisiana was immediately after Katrina when there were probably close to a million people in Baton Rouge....everything from gas stations to grocery stores would start running low on inventory by 4PM on most days. The traffic was atrocious.

I would hate for a ne'er-do-well to do a simple google image search.

Louisiana has the highest per capita residential sector electricity consumption in the nation. More than 6 in 10 Louisiana households rely on electric heating and almost all households have air conditioning.

TLDR: it’s hot down here.

We’ve got some damn serious industrial capacity here. We also have the worlds largest fertilizer plant, several massive ethylene facilities, and a huge alpha Olefins plant in this state.

The humidity that is present where the majority of our population lives is just different than where most other population centers are. Houston has it some, Jackson some, but it’s just different.
