Born to a daddy that worked three jobs and a mama that worked one, and two when she had to. Never missed a meal, a rent or house payment, and never didn’t have a bed to sleep in. And no government assistance.

Wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth. K-Mart cutlery here. Grew up working on a farm and going to public school. Paid my way through community college and 4-year. Night classes.

Thankful for every dang thing I’ve ever been given and had a chance to know.

Well a poor man’s cold in the winter,
In the summer he’s hotter than hell, for a sinner,
And when fall rolls around, he’s worn out his shoes,
No there ain’t no color in the poor man’s blues,

It’s the same black or white, brown yellow and red,
Working like a dog just to keep the kids fed,
In a ramshackle house, with holes in the roof,
And the scars on his hands well they’re living proof,
Yeah the news man tries to pit us ‘gainst each other,
But a workin man knows who he calls a brother,
Lines they draw between us, it’s a crying shame,
Color’s only skin deep, underneath, we all bleed the same...

Alot of us grew up poor and dealt with adversity but worked hard to get through it.Unfortunately none of that matters in their eyes because we’re privileged

I hear people talkin' bad,
About the way they have to live here in this country
Harpin' on the wars we fight
And gripin' 'bout the way things oughta be
And I don't mind 'em switchin' sides
And standin' up for things they believe in
But when they're runnin' down our country, man
They're walkin' on the fightin' side of me
They're walkin' on the fightin' side of me
Runnin' down a way of life
Our fightin' men have fought and died to keep
If you don't love it, leave it
Let this song that I'm singin' be a warnin'
When you're runnin' down our country, hoss
You're walkin' on the fightin' side of me
I read about some squirrelly guy
Who claims that he just don't believe in fightin'
And I wonder just how long
The rest of us can count on bein' free
They love our milk and honey
But they preach about some other way of livin'
But when they're runnin' down our country, man
They're walkin' on the fightin' side of me
They're walkin' on the fightin' side of me
Runnin' down the way of life
Our fightin' men have fought and died to keep
If you don't love it, leave it
Let this song that I'm singin' be a warnin'
When you're runnin' down our country, man
You're walkin' on the fightin' side of me
You're walkin' on the fightin' side of me
Runnin' down the way of life
Our fightin' men have fought and died to keep
If you don't love it, leave it
Let this song that I'm singin' be a warnin'
When you're runnin' down our country, hoss
You're walkin' on the fightin' side of me
