How much do you think the average baw brings home?

Too vague a term. Lot of different O&G work. Most low on the totem pole probably clear $50k/yr starting out. Money only grows from there once you network.

A silhouette of a fairly overweight man in coveralls with his feet kicked up on a console and a spit cup next to his feet.

Are we talking about a baw that works at a plant?

I'm talking greenhand/laborer/fresh in the industry type. They normally bring those plant helpers in at 15-20/hr depending on the craft. And if you have any lick of sense about you, you don't stay at that pay grade long.

2 guys I went to high school with both work as operators. 1 has a really nice house, truck, boat, & his wife stays home with their kid. The other dude tells me he makes double that.

Either way the make a hell of a lot more than me!

There is a lot of money in it. But like everything there are pros and cons. I couldn’t imagine working Monday-Friday with only Saturday and Sunday off but I could go without getting up at 2:45am for work.

Those operators normally start in the 20 range and can top out in the high 40s and beyond once you start talking supervision. You can make 150k without working yourself to death.

The Magellan op that was on our last job was getting paid $56/hr plus truck pay, mileage, and per diem. Midstream is where the money is.

I could make 250-300k in DC.

Instead, I make 50k in Louisiana.

I'm actually fairly okay with that at the moment. It's less than 25% of what I was making 8 years ago...but I don't want to put a gun in my mouth. And my liver isn't so black it wants to frick a Kardashian.

But I'll honestly try to get into a plant this year. I'll work less.

You’re such a mental midget. Always worried about others. I can be happy with minimal rations. It’s what you surround yourself with.

I’m glad to say I finally got an operator job after nearly 4 years as a contractor. Evolving from wannabe baw to tiny baw feels good.

Oh, relax Barbara.

I’m not leaving my 9-5. Simply a comment on the system being a little backerdz, baw.

Get the education then go to the plant and be a baw. Use the education to climb the ladder and be the baws’ boss.
