It happened to me at about 23 or 24. It's not that I think it's a waste of time, it just didn't interest me anymore. Now I only go out a handful of times a year.

Shift to day drinking, it's like night drinking but without the thumping house music and hangovers. Every once in a while pull a late drinking night.

At my age I prefer going to happy hours. I can sit with friends and chat and eat and drink. All before 7-8 pm. Then maybe continue to a bar to hang out some more and sit and drink. I'm old...sitting is key now for me when I go out, I'm not standing around in crowded places in heels all night long like I did in my 20s.

True. I love breakfast places that serve alcohol.

Nothing better than enjoying pancakes AND a tasty alcoholic beverage.

I don't mind going to special events like a ball, gala, festival, etc but just going out to a bar for the hell of it? No thanks

A laid back bar with buds is fine

Loud bars/clubs are miserable

I can tell my buds to come drink in my back yard and we'll enjoy it more

Last time I went out in Old Town Scottsdale to do the club scene was when I had a friend in town visiting. We wanted to show him around since he was single and had heard about all the hot chicks here.

I'm officially done with ever wanting to go out to clubs like that now. That night just ended up with me feeling really old and depressed

I don't mind low key bars where I can actually sit and chat with friends (and play darts or pool or something like that)though. But meat market clubs with loud music...no thanks.

after moving to New Orleans I found that in the bar scene, while having an extreme level of supply, was difficult to find the same kind of crowd I usually look for. These days I usually go to bars to see some live music but rarely to just go hang out at a bar for an extended period of time

I'd rather just hang out at someone's house and cook and drink. I get way too drunk to go out that often and hangovers hurt like hell now

I'm usually driving so I limit myself to 2 drinks now if I ever go out.

If I'm not driving I make sure the place has food that I can eat while drinking and I refuse to do shots of any kind now. Hangovers now mean a good 2 days of recovery for me.

the other factors still apply to NOLA bars

You mean like Sazerac Bar, Cure, Arnaud's French 75, Bar Tonique, SoBou, Cane and Table, Barrel Proof, 12 Mile Limit, Bellocq, Root Squared, Treo, Victory, Carousel Bar, Cellar Door, etc?

I know there's a lot of NOLA homers on here, but it's silly to suggest that New Orleans does not have plenty of bars for more mature crowds, young professionals, etc.

Around the age 23 I realized this. Yet I do like to go have a beer with friends and coworkers from time to time.

Congrats on growing up. As you get older bars that destroy your hearing and clubs with dancing like european hookers go out of style when you hit 26. Then bars where you can chill and actually have a convo with the girl you just matched with on tinder are a much more efficient system for doing the ole in and out later that night.
