I think the better question is why are people still smoking?

Because they like it

Also, science has not come up with a better post-sex activity

A similar question could be asked about drinking or drugs or gambling or fast food or any of the many other vices out there that aren't good for us.

Similar, but not the same. Smoking is in its own category of horrible decisions.

Although of those you listed, I do suppose it would share a category with certain (not all) illegal drugs.

I lost a lung every time I walked into a smoke infested establishment. As a non smoker the smoking ban is great.

19 down votes?!?! frick is wrong with you people.

How does that quote get 19 down votes?

No one forces employees to work there or patrons to go there.

A business owner should be able to run the business however he/she sees fit without the government or a bunch of immature complainers interference.

I've never smoked, but I agree with you. It should be up to the owner as to whether smoking is allowed. At this time there would be many bars that remain smoke free and others that allow it. You could choose and the govt doesn't get to wield more power.

My single days were the late 80s and all of the 90s and the smoke from others rarely bothered me. I suppose we didn't bitch as much then.

Boy, I should’ve waited till morning to voice my opinions.

In any case, bars should still be able to have smokers in em. I don’t mean restaurants with bars or anything like that. Just a straight up bar.

No, your stance is about the stupidest stance someone could take on this subject.

If a bar chooses to allow a legal product to be used in their establishment, they should have the right to do so without interference from the state.

Don't like drinking in a smoke filled bar, very simple, don't go to one.

I don’t refuse to accept anything. You refuse to accept that employees have the legal right to a safe environment.

This sentences lets me know just how stupid you are.

By that logic, bars should be allowed to leave cans of paint thinner and rags out for their guests if they want. Those are two legal products and the state has no business telling them they can't.

Again, should be up to the owner whether or not products are permitted to be consumed their establishment, but since you bring it up, huffing paint thinner is already illegal in many states, so your point is moot.

Then don’t go to a place where people smoke. Why do you want to the government to restrict freedom?

I’m a non smoker but at times I choose to go to place that allow smoking. I know the risk and I choose to accept the risk. I don’t need to government to protect me.
