The more I think about this the more aggravated I get. Just my federal tax bill alone is more than most middle class people’s mortgage. That’s before you add the wife’s. The working middle class get the root so bad it almost makes me wonder what’s the point.

We don’t need stimulus buts it’s aggravating that those of us who are paying for this won’t see any money. Lots of hard working middle class like us that will pay for all those that are already living off the system.

If your family paid $56,000 in federal income taxes in 2019 that puts you in the top 4% in the US with a HHI of ~$250-300k

You aren't middle class, beb. You might feel like it, but you aren't.

I can assure we don’t live extravagant lifestyles. I would def consider us middle class working class people. We are both educated. I have a bachelors. Wife has a masters and working on another advanced degree but we aren’t upper class that’s for damn sure.

ETA: My point is that there are so many of us that pay the bills for the country while others sit back and collect. I have not lost my job nor has my wife, but I have a lot of friends that were in same boat as me a couple months ago that don’t know what they are going to do to make ends meet. They made a good salary last year so they won’t get a stimulus.

You pay more in taxes than the working class people gross in a year.

I can’t tell if this is a troll or not. He's laying it on kinda thick but I've known plenty of people that claim to be middle class despite making several times the median income for their area.

I'm not knocking your lifestyle or your choices in career. I'm pointing out that nothing you've posted above means you're middle class.

Your household income is over 4x the median HHI of the US. By definition, you aren't middle class.

They'll get it as a credit on their 2020 return. These stimulus checks are just an advance on one's 2020 return.

You had to file a 1040 in 2018 or 2019 to receive a check. And FWIW, I think anyone that filed in 2018 or 2019 should get the check. They'll spend it, save/invest it, or give it to someone that needs it. All of which are the intended purpose of the stimulus.

I assure we that we are working class. My wife comes home and talks about her surgeons that are taking huge pay cuts. People that make 7 figures a year. Like I tell her it’s all relative. They just have nicer things but are no different than us.

People who gross 300k+ a year aren't working class.

Sorry.

You keep saying this. Upper Class people aren't just trust fund recipients. They can still be gainfully employed.

Why aren’t we? We both work our asses off to make what we make. If we were talking about my my ex who is independent wealthy from her daddy and grandpa we would be having a totally different f discussion.

People who work and gross a decent salary aren’t working class? Sorry you chose a shitty career. We won’t gross high 6’s or 7 figures

That's not what makes a person "working class"

Still not sure why I’m being attacked. I was just saying that it pisses me off that all the people already living off the system are getting a stimulus. Most of the OT prob doesn’t qualify either. Why are y’all attacking me? I’m making sure y’all get all the plastic, rubbed, diesel, etc y’all need. My wife is going to work and taking care of the covid patients the best she can.

The working class is generally speaking made up of those without a college degree. Unskilled labor, factory workers, artisans, etc.

You seem to be subscribing to the Marxist definition of "working class"

So working class can’t be educated?

Generally speaking they aren't highly educated. HS is usually where they top out. Not all, but most.

By your definition, a guy like billionaire Tiger Woods is "working class"

FWIW. I'm not attacking you. I'm pointing out that you aren't, by definition, middle class when you make more than four times the median household income.

Most people identify the "classes" in some variation of the following:

Poor
Lower/Working Class
Middle Class
Upper Middle Class
Upper Class
High Wealth/Rich/Whatever

The Middle Class is typically defined as the 25% +/- band from the median household income, which is approximately $62,000.

Your family makes 4x the median HHI, meaning you're either Upper Middle Class or Upper Class...congrats.

Thanks golfer. We sure don’t feel like upper middle class. Like I said earlier everything is relative.
