If you're arrested in LA, are you drug tested and put in drug court if you fail?

I saw a public school facebook friend bitching about how his sister called the police on him for domestic violence. He claims he was arrested, drug tested, and put in drug court for two years w/ weekly drug tests. This was all before trial.

This doesn't seem likely to me. Is he making it all up?

Could it be a parish law?

eta: he had a failure to appear.

He may have shown signs of drug use at his arrest, tested positive, etc., and made a deal or something with the ADA.

if they had reason to suspect he was on drugs. yes.
he could have refused unless they had a warrant. so still possible.

It's likely he took some pre trial intervention and accepted those stipulations... They love offering those conditions because they know they then have the person by the balls and about to cause a lot of heartache and money the next couple years

Completely plausible, trust me, I've been through drug court and intensive probation. And have seen all walks of life for various charges in it

I've even seen People bail out of jail on a gun poss charge, come to court while out on bail and the judge order a drug screen and when he failed (altho his arrest didn't have anything to do with drugs) the judge revoke his bond and refuse to set another and he had to wait his time in jail until he finalized his charges.

This was B.G. The rapper in which I shared a cell with for 6 weeks

Drug court is an alternative to receiving a lengthy probation or jail time. If you complete the program (there are weekly tests at first, but they get less and less frequent), then your probation can be terminated early.

No I was in the House of detention, 5th or 6th floor in an 8 man cell with B.G. For about 6 weeks waiting for court and to be transferred to the Coleman correctional facility to face probation violation.

haha he got fat, but we shared a bunk(me top him bottom) and shot the shite the 6weeks because I was the only one in there that did dope. War stories and all, you know the drill

Was cool because when they passed out grub everyone always seemed to hook him up with extra loaves of bread and milks so we are alright. He still says in real life his signature "wahhhhhh" all the time tho and that is funny. He would freestyle at night for entertainment while everyone was laying in their bunks going to sleep.... Dude got railroaded bad... Had someone come to court saying it was their gun and the judge charged him with tampering or something and added to his sentence for not claiming the gun and having someone try to take the charge for money

Dorsey had previously pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm during a 2009 traffic stop in eastern New Orleans. But later, he obstructed justice by pushing one of his two associates to falsely claim ownership of the gun.

Dorsey confessed to the crimes but prosecutors made clear that he was not cooperating, staying in line with the "no-snitch" philosophy he so often espoused in his songs.

quote:

Dorsey was arrested with Demounde Pollard, 20, and Jerod Fedison, 30. Police found three guns, along with loaded magazines. Two of the guns had been reported stolen and the car itself had been stolen from an Alamo rental car parking lot.

Pollard confessed to ownership of the guns, though it was later revealed to be at the behest of Dorsey.

Yep that is the time....

The fricked up part is it had nothing to do with drugs and he bailed out but had to come back for arraignment. The judge sent him down the hall and he popped dirty piss and the judge revoked his bond and wouldn't grant him another one. He had to sit there until trial. I think that is bullshite. Not like he didn't show or something.

Probably already on probation for something else.
In that case, it would be likely.
