Holy cow. We don't appreciate how good we have things nowadays.

They lived that close to the water and he couldn't swim?
It's an awesome story though.

the 25 ft of water is a bit of stretch, highest surge was 12-15(but I am sure for a 14 year old it seemed like 25).

Depends where and who is measuring. Sopposedly water didn't get high enough in Belle chasse for boats to clear tops of houses immediately after Katrina yet USCG tells me they sent out rescue craft and did clear over houses some the Coasties lived in there

Sorry I meant Chalmette not Belle Chasse. Yes inside the levees.
The water mark at Air Products and Chemicals in New Orleans east was identical to Betsy when the plant was 6 months old.

Incredible story. Kind of pissed me off when he got to the part where he got divorced and "once again lost everything I had."

Let's talk about what it means to be badass...
Being badass means treating people with respect and exhibiting humility in your interactions with others...
The reason I am badass is because that's what I do, so my community knows me and respects me in return...

Quite frankly, I don't know. I do know that Katrina water levels were higher than officially recorded. Water marks on a water town at Bay St. Louis show that Katrina storm surge was over 50 feet high. Officially it was lower. I guess it depends on which waves on top of surge were right there

My ex FIL rode out Audrey in an oak tree after their house was washed away.
