Baily's was so close to beating out Canes. I remember the Reveille chicken war articles.

They did steal the concept
Yep.
It's funny that part of the marketing for Cane's used to be how the idea was used for his senior thesis, or some sort of BA project while in college in Georgia, and he was given a C for the effort. He went on to prove that professor wrong.
Yeah, he regurgitated an existing concept and the professor rewarded him accordingly.

Bailey’s predated Canes at LSU

It was founded in Auburn, AL and the first restaurant was in Haleyville. A few other companies also used the same concept.
Wait, are we talking about Guthrie's? If so, it is for sure better than Cane's. Without a doubt. We just got one near where I live a few years ago and it has brought back wonderful memories of college.

It did, but not on LSU's campus. Bailey's had a location in Mississippi. The first Cane's opened up a week or so before Bailey's (very odd). And then Cane's eventually opened up their 2nd location right across the street basically from Bailey's. It was like McDonalds vs. McDowell's in "Coming to America". They both basically had the same box with texas toast, slaw and special sauce (though Bailey's offered a few other sauces too and Bailey's had steak fries). I gave Bailey's the edge back then because they used to put dollar coupons in the Tiger Weekly paper and you could get the whole box (which I think was 5 or 6 fingers back then) for like under $4.
