That makes sense. I was born in 80, so I probably wasn’t aware of it if friends’ parents had them in elementary school. They’d just use their land lines at home.

Maybe not all the way to the 1980's but maybe back to 1994 or 1995. There was a great decline in the internet when it was made available to anyone with the capability to plug in a power cord and operate an on/off switch.

The only guy I knew that had one sold them to companies.

I hate Facebook and certain immediate aspects of modern tech but overall the benefit has been to great.
I love the internet but cell phones are really what started to change things.
I remember having to run back home or stop at pay phone to call people. When in college I was working in construction and trying to coordinate school, friends and work was super tough. F going back

I'd prefer to go back to the 1880s. A man offended you by kneeling when she should have stood? Challenge him to a duel. Your wife cheated? Beat her arse, or just kill the sloot with no penalty. Mexicans sneaked into Texas? They dead yet? Homosexual? LOL here's a gun, put yourself out of your misery.............
Back when American really WAS great.

I can go as far back as filp phones but I can't go all the way back to beepers and answering machines. I do agree that there is a lot to be said for simpler times and actually having to interact with people.

Anyone else remember family movie night when you'd rent a VCR and a couple movies LOL. I remember when my parents bought their first VCR it was like $700. A LOT of money in the mid 80s.

We've definitely come a long way since then

No way. You know why y'all have such fond memories of the 80s? Bc you were 30 years younger. But you're fooling yourself if you think you'd give up your internet porno, your Playstions, your 380hp trucks for playboy magazines, Atari, and 150hp single cab pickups with rusty beds and sagging headliners.

Really? I know the technology existed, but I didn’t know a single average person who had one.
Remember that scene in Wall Street when Gordon Gecko is talking on the phone at the beach? Phone was bigger than Zack Morris's phone but this was about 1987.

Miami Vice, dude had a cell phone that looked like a WWI era army radio.

And, you'd be wrong. I'd go back to the 1980's at my current age.
