With lottery money I would buy a pile of land in Saskatchewan and find a young family to farm it and I would keep the ducks and geese ran off it in the fall. Along about November I'd move to my place on the intercoastal in SE Florida for the sailfish bite through February. Id then turn my attention to the freshwater fishing in that area until about May and then I would head to Utah and trout fish until time to go back to Saskatchewan....

For some. I realized I don't belong there. Everyone should live where they feel they thrive.
I'm happy never to return, but occasionally have to visit.

Idaho.
A lot of folks like this idea and it is fantastic but the people tend to be assholes if you ain't a mormon. Not the entire state but the parts that aren't that way are about like Austen or Jackson Wyoming. Both nice enough but not what is alluring about Idaho.
I have a friend in Swan Valley Idaho and love to visit but it would get old fast being asked what religion you were and then being snubbed to the point that you have to demand service in restaurants and the like. Utah is not nearly as bad for whatever reason...

I love living around Mormons. Thousands come here to work in summer for tourist season, great people.

People will find it strange, but I do miss the humidity. The dry air is hell on the skin. I should not be so ashy for a white boy.
Other than that, it is the little things
Real rain
Night noises
Real people (Utards, as many call them) are fake and too passive aggressive.
And of course the food. The south's food cannot be beat.

Yeah, because if you ain't one, they leave you alone and put on that fake smile when you are around.

Nah, I hired and worked with a bunch when I was in tourism. Great kids.
Fulfilled their contract, showed up on time every day, clean and articulate.

Come on down but know it is NOT cheap to live here and particularly so in Naples. A 7000 sq ft raw lot is $800k in North Naples.

I cannot argue that. 90% of who I work with are Mormon. Most are great workers. Still, living in Mormon central has taught me that unless you convert, you will never be truly accepted.

Same. All my neighbors and co workers are LDS. No drama and they stay out of my way. It’s great.
Utah Cajun, you’re most likely right. I don’t really care about ultimate acceptance and value the privacy. But I could see that becoming bothersome .

This is the biggest negative to living in this part of the country. The food is nothing to write home about. Even the Mexican and Asian places suck, compared to the options in the South.

Agree about the food. Unless you’re on East/West coast, or pockets of the south, food in the US is pretty rough outside a handful of cities.

I'm cool with that. I dislike groups.

Somewhere near Telluride Colorado. If I could live anywhere outside the country, Switzerland.

I don't have a significant other and am a remote worker. I am looking at moving some place along the Florida Gulf Coast.
