I agree and while on the subject we probably shouldn't let gays buy guns as well.

I know gay couples with kids and those kids are very well adjusted, do well in school, are polite, etc. The parents are also present and active in the kid's lives -- that makes a huge difference, too. Not to mention financial stability.

I'd think that it is better for society as a whole to have a child adopted by loving gay parents than it is for that child to bounce around foster homes. People always say a kid will be messed up having same sex couples as parents but straight couples do a pretty damn good job of fricking kids up themselves so that point is moot.

This is true. Studies have shown kids with opposite-sex parents and kids with same-sex parents fair the same. The biggest two determining factors of how kids fair are socioeconomic status, and family stability. If both of those two boxes are checked, odds are the kid will be fine whether he has a Mom and Dad, two Moms, or two Dads.

I disagree. Exposure to manly things like guns may help cure them quicker

But is the risk worth the reward? Think of the children

It's pretty insane the amount of bigotry that there is towards gay folks. They are just dudes who like dick or girls who like pussy. So what.

In all fairness, the general approach from the people on the board is what you do in the bedroom is your own business. I don't find a ton of bigotry toward gays here (of course there's always some). I find people here really only get bent out of shape over the very vocal number of gays who, among other things, talk a talk very different from the walk they walk when it comes to tolerance and acceptance. I'm gay, and truth be told, I find a lot of gays unbearable in that regard. I frequently find myself telling gays and lesbians who spout off about the need for acceptance and equality to practice what they preach, and maybe they should consider "doing" rather than "saying."

Parenting is supposed to be done by a man and a woman, that's the way it will always be no matter how much a certain group wants to believe otherwise.

So you think a child living in a house with an abusive father and mother is always better than living in a two mother home without abusive parenting?

You should generally avoid absolutes. Lots of things in reality aren't the way they are "supposed" to be.

I'm not saying it as in general. Of course there are exceptions.

Not really. I'd say that as a society, being open and welcoming to gay people has grown leaps and bounds over the last 20 years.

The problem is that the gays want to keep beating the homophobic drum if somebody is not 100% fully onboard with the idea of gay couples being a healthy parent situation.

It's a really juvenile approach to disagreement.

It's definitely grown by leaps and bounds in the 10 years I've been paying attention to that sort of thing. I live in a rural area so I still see it quite a bit.

Yup, it is. I've been guilty of that sort of thing myself in the past towards libs especially.

Except that's exactly what you did.

The best probability for raising healthy, well-adjusted kids comes from having a household that is both stable and has a higher SES. Those are the two greatest predictors, not the gender of the parents.

Gay couples don’t want to adopt either. They want blonde haired blue eyed kids from surrogates.
