Nah I know bro. I miss that food fest we went to. That was fun as hell.

Ever heard of Paradise, CA?
I just slogged through a truly interminable Wikipedia article about this place and the fire that happened there. It did not convince me that commercial electrical service had any connection to that fire.
Electrical sparks do not easily ignite kindling. Most if not all recorded fires started by sparks (pre-Paradise, CA) have involved an accumulated flammable gas. There's no evidence of that in Paradise, CA.
Wikiepdia did convince me that PG&E had the deepest pockets and the most guilty demeanor of anyone who might have had something to do with it... by some mechanism.

Man, you are some kind of out of your league here.
We have cars that spark (chains dragging or stupid shite like that) causing brushfires all the time here. All the time.

Funny how you never hear about that happening in places that don't elect people who perceive a moral imperative to reduce the American standard-of-living... when's the last time it happened in West Texas, for example?
The LA Times is running an article right now with the headline "Did PG&E Power Lines Cause the Destructive Kincaid Fire?" Inevitably, the answer to any headline phrased as a yes/no question is "no." LINK

What?
LOL, all I was arguing is that sparks easily ignite brush out here. Now you’re ranting.

What?
I think it's a very valid question: if commercial electrical service really causes rampant wildfires in CA, why do we not observe this elsewhere?
California has some pretty unique weather patterns and flora... but so unique that they're the only place on the planet that feels compelled to shut off people's electricity for days at a time?
Where's the science? Show me evidence this actually reduced fires. Better yet, show me a cost/benefit analysis.
Even if people dragging shite from there car starts fires, that says nothing about power lines. I can drag a chain behind my car for a few miles and generate prolonged sparks and high temperatures, and do so all over the place. Does a fallen power line do that?
I just think the whole thing is completely unscientific, unsound ethically and economically, and probably just reprehensible arse-covering by PG&E (a thoroughly rotten organization).
You'll pick apart some of this but you can't debunk it in any overall way.

You’re asking a frick ton of questions.
All I said was that electrical lines can cause fires. You said, early in the thread, that you found that unlikely.
Now you know they can. My work here is done.
