Isn't that where the charter bus driven by the illegal killed the fireman last year?

Seems like that got swept under the rug. Think the owner of the bus was a politician in StT or something and was hiring the workers on the bus to do clean up in BR.

My cousin was the fire chief involved in that accident.

Driver of the bus is in jail, investigation showed the bus brakes were fully functional. (His claim was that they didn't work.) As far as the politician investigation, I believe all that is still ongoing. Not sure if anything will ever come of it but they are pushing the issue.

PSA: when there are emergency vehicles on the road working a scene, slow down and move over.

Grew up with him in LaPlace. Not a day goes by when I don't think about him and what his kids are going through.

That stretch of I-10 always seem to have issues.

Yep. It was Westbound about 4 miles up the road from that one. The fact an illegal was driving definitely got swept under the rug, but the firefighter's wife is suing the bus company (their insurance company)for a large sum of cash from what I am told. It will probably settle out of court like most insurance cases.

Advocate's updated story

quote:

According to Matey, two charter buses carrying a total of 108 students ages 17 to 18 from Baton Rouge's Lee High School were heading eastbound on Interstate 10 near mile marker 209 when the accident occurred.

quote:

One bus had begun slowing down for traffic when it was struck from behind by the other, Matey said. Troopers intend to cite the second driver for careless operation of a motor vehicle.
