Not if he held on it, I am sure he sold some off when he received it as payment then held on to some of it. Every investment comes with some risk, but when it was being accepted as currency more and more at the time it wasn't a dumb move.

I would assume if someone got paid in Bitcoin, they had no intention of selling ever.
