Same policy for Conroe ISD.
My wife is a teacher and her and most of her teacher friends hate this Zoom classroom nonsense. They know there will be a giant 2 year gap in the education of already struggling students. It’s just to vocal minority of liberal teachers who push for it.

Is this really a good thing? All it’s doing is forcing the shitty kids to be physically present and disruptive in class

I don’t know who would pay for private school to do at home learning?
my wife is a private school teacher and has 4-5 at home only kids.
all of her at home kids are the children of Drs who don't want to be the cause of spread and since their Dr kids anyways, they've stayed on top of it. she's had a few who had to stay home because of primary contact with a positive case and they haven't faired as well, but it's short term and they come back.
she had to stay home all of November and record lessons and teach virtually. now that sucked and there was a lot of struggle for her and her students during that.

Our kids are currently virtual learners and have been working their asses off, but the honors chem class has them/us considering on site.
I can definitiely see where virtual learning is leaving kids behind without parental oversite and discplined kiddos.
HISD is ddealing with insane amounts of kids failing....we're in CISD

quote:In Wichita, Ks. there has been a "huge outcry" to remain in the online format from educators. The district has caved and even given teachers the option to work form home. In my school there have been less than 10 opt for this and we have over 100 staff on campus. And the majority of those are so they can take care of their elementary aged kids or because they have a long drive and want to save the gas.

York Junior High
I don’t think this surprises anyone familiar with the area and HISD shenanigans.

teachers are being told not to give failing grades. They're just pushing kids to the next class, learning be damned.
I know this will as a shock to y’all but this right is happening in CA too. Had been for a while even before this. There are kids being passed on they can’t read even near the appropriate level. Sickening to say the least.

How do you miss class when class is anywhere you are?
It's difficult to login to class when you're in full screen mode of some FPS game.

In that ISD as well and getting the kids back into school was the best decision although I did enjoy having my kids done with their school work before noon.
Side note: Do you enjoy those daily COVID emails regarding an infected person at the campus?

These are suburban ISDs in Texas. Shitty students don’t get to disrupt class. They get sent to the alt school with quickness.

My wife has a special spam folder for them. She also gets the txt messages as a teacher in the district. She says she doesn’t want to teach anymore if she has to wear a mask and do virtual classroom + physical classroom if it’s enforced at the start of the 2021 school year.

Klark,
Same here at my neighborhood school (Bradley) and my neighborhood teachers. The Conroe ISD teachers were close and would often have parties and get-togethers.
There is one pro-lockdown teacher who hates in-school learning and she cries on the private neighborhood page about being abandoned by her friends, neighbors, and Superintendent. She wants to resign before she has to plan her funeral and she is treated like an outcast by her old friends.
In a non scientific study, the 8+ teachers who don't complain & love in-person are very fit, attractive, and drive standard mom type SUVs. The one pro lock-down teacher drives a small hatchback car and has short hair with non traditional colors and BMI issues.

My neighbors are both teachers and were glad to get back to in-person teaching. The pro-lockdown teacher sounds like a lovely person.

sounds spot on. There’s one at my wife’s school too who constantly whines that the other teachers aren’t taking COVID serious enough. Then when presented with statistics on how not a single child is CISD has been hospitalized she’ll walk out of the room. She’s a better fit for HISD if you know what I mean...

My wife is 8 months pregnant and still teaching everyday virtual and physical. Hasn’t once complained or asked to do only virtual. It’s all in these people’s heads.

What do you think of that school?

My wife almost switched to McCullough this pst summer to teach math, but they wanted her to coach Cross Country and Track. With a baby on the way she knew she wouldn’t have the time. Those 2 compete in scores. Sounds like McCullough has the edge lately.
