I think my 06 Civic Si jumped timing.

Was driving yesterday and out of nowhere the oil pressure light came on and the car stalled. Coasted into my GF’s place and the thing wouldn’t start back up.
Went to start it this morning and it will fire but barely idle. If I apply the throttle it will die instantly which tells me it is misfiring badly.
Pulled code P1009 which is VTC solenoid failure. I think contaminants in the oil may have caused low pressure leading to the failure of the solenoid which could have led to the timing chain jumping a tick.
I’m going to strip down to the valve cover gasket and pray that I didn’t bend any valves.
Damn k20’s are notorious for burning oil at higher mileage and I think I’m the latest victim.

Yeah, but I bet you really felt the Vtec kick in!

You’d better get that chick magnet back up and running ASAP!

Maybe offer some things your car is doing to support this claim....

Be careful, man. Those 06 Civics are rare.

Those solenoids are infamous for going bad. Change it out and see if it runs good.
The aftermarket ones from Oreilly auto parts are good replacements.

Check your engine block. Those model years had a number of them crack causing loss of oil and seizure
Happened to my son's civic. Luckily it was still under a recall

You really got it up to 88mph?

Aren't Honda engines pretty much all interference engines? Valves typically don't do well when the piston slams into them at TDC if you jump a tooth or two on the timing or break the timing chain/belt.
Good luck.
Good luck.
