I'm serious when I say this as someone who works in HR:
If you are reported, you are screwed.
While your response was logical and polite, you are now living in Progressive Clown World.
You will likely be written up and have to attend sensitivity training. In an extreme case you may be fired, just depends on how "progressive" the HR rep is that is assigned to the report.

I’ve accidentally gotten someone’s gender wrong over the phone if it’s a male with a high voice or a female with a deep voice. And yeah, that’s embarrassing, but still not a huge deal. But now, these freak show SJWs that want to whine about “misgendering”, screw that! There’s no such thing. Just because you’re mentally ill, I’m not buying a ticket on the crazy train with you.
