I've never seen one up in a tree like that. Typically they're in darker, cooler places.

Definitely burn down the tree if nothing else.

They usually don't have markings on their back when they reach adulthood. This may be a redback. Translation: GTFO.

Oh shite. I looked it up. Apparently, these things are indigenous to Australia, but have been introduced elsewhere accidentally.

I pulled up some pics and saw that in most cases, the red marking on their back is a single, solid line.

But then I saw...

Had me worried for a minute..'just' a black widow though after looking at various google photos. Albeit the biggest one I've ever seen.
