I was in year #2 of living in New Orleans and I remember Cindy coming thru overnight and woke up the next morning to sunshine and extreme heat.
I dont think rain was a big issue then. Cindy moved rather quickly.

Was Cindy even a hurricane? I thought it was just a tropical storm. It trucked through here in no time.
Then, the following month.....
EDIT: Okay, it was briefly a hurricane.

Cindy "eye" passed very close to us in Chalmette. It came aboard as a TS. I woke up at one point around 1-2 am, and the wind was howling, and I opened the front door (we had a screen door, kept that closed), looked out and the sky was orange. I remember thinking, this is a Cat 1 cane, not a tropical storm.
A couple of months later when they did their analysis, it was upgraded retroactively to a hurricane.
But I think I was at work by 11 am that morning. Plenty of tree limbs around, but no real water issues.

Cindy's damage was mostly from downed tree limbs.

With global warming progressing like it has, we are destined to see a Cat. 6 supercane making landfall.

Yeah I think it brought about 22-21 inches of rain. The predicted track was right 9 out of the last 12 times.
