It’s almost like a law that you have to say that. If you are black like Don Lemon and Donna Brazil, you say it to defend your blackness or coolness I guess.
For white people it’s the equivalent of “but I have black friends.”
Since I know nothing about music I tend to not weigh in on his misic, but what the hell makes this guy a genius?

He’s got a little bit of Robin Williams in him. By that I mean there are a certain number of people who thought Robin Williams was funny because he was considered genius. They thought they were supposed to think he was funny even if they did not think he was funny.

He actually has some good songs, never been a fan, still not.
