The recruiter made it sound like he would be a shoe in for a job with the degree and military background. That's the bottom line. His uncle retired from the Army last year and is trying to talk him out of it. His logic is that the army wants guys trained in plant process so that they can later call them up to active duty because of the oil fields in the Middle East.

I concur. I wasn't sure how the process worked. I recently got discharged from active duty served my four years as a 68w. I could have picked up my e6 if I stayed in. I'm taking my prerequisites before I get accepted into a physician assistant program. Spent my last year at ft. Stewart's medical simulation training center and at West Point during the summer time for their field training and the new cadets basic training.

If you don't mind me asking how old are you and what did you enlist to do?

Drop me a line to my gmail account. I am currently stationed at Fort Gordon commanding the 1st Medical Training Brigade. I can lend you a hand in finding a 68W assignment in the Army Reserve. Finding a 70B vacancy is very difficult. We simply do not have the positions. Plenty of opportunities for 65D in the Army Reserve using the IPAP. Just a tough cut (as you are aware). Saw in the Army Times an announcement that they are going to offer programs to help enlisted Soldiers pursue a medical degree as well. Undergraduate and graduate program.

14 years in Army Logistics and it has helped me get hired in my Civilian Logistics position. In fact, I outshined several insiders trying to move up I the business that couldn't compete with my resume.

You are on your way to either the 94th Combat Support Hospital or the 341st Medical Battalion (Multifunctional). They are both in Seagoville (my first AGR assignment actually - interesting). They are subordinate battalions of the 176th Medical Brigade (my best friend is the AGR S3 for the BDE). Bottom line, I am well connected across that organization. You are going to experience some culture shock (I will not deny it) but if you focus on making a difference you will be amazed at how many people will seek you out for leadership/guidance.
