has been leaking since last week's freeze. I even ran the water like I was supposed to do and the damn thing still cracked. Water has been running leaking all over the yard since last week. I didn't noticed earlier because shortly after the freeze it rained for a few days off and on and I still had relatively good water pressure inside the house. I'm worried about how bad this damn water bill will be whenever I get it.
I might have to create a gofundme account to relieve the pain.
I just finished dealing with the supply line to my tube cracking and messing up my master bathroom.

With how inept Lousiana comes off on this board, just say you filed a complaint last week, no one showed up and make up a realistic meter reading of the time you filed the complaint.

Fwiw, during the summer i left my leaking water hose on right before we went out of town for 2 weeks. Bill was about 100 bucks, or 40 bucks more than normal.

I don't think that shite would work here in Mandeville. Maybe in Hammond, but not here.

My sister (no pics), lives in a duplex. Her neighbors were out of town last freeze so she dripped their pipes for them, and dripped hers as well. Hers froze, but the neighbors did not. Just luck of the draw I reckon.

call the water company tomorrow and tell them what is going on...if the bill is exorbitantly high, they may cut you some slack.
on the other hand, the leak may have been there for a heck of a long time, so your past bills may have reflected that too.

I sorta doubt the freeze had a direct cause in the leak. Anything under the ground more than even an inch would've been fine. Anyway that sort of thing happened to me once and my water co met me in the middle on the bill. They did some sort of average out my bill plus wait until next billing cycle but eventually they paid half and I paid half. IIRC it was like 150 before bill was split.

Exact same thing happened to me a few years ago during a freeze. Water began shooting out of the ground of my front yard during the middle of the day apparently. I was at work. Fortunately, the neighbor was home and eventually went outside and saw it and cut it off at the meter for me.
Water bill was about double that month.
