They literally just extended the exit a block down, it’s the exact same thing as before except the exit now has the capacity to hold more vehicles coming off the bridge.

True. But when has traffic really ever backed up onto the bridge from that exit? I take that exit every day and I have for decades, and I hardly ever recall the traffic backing up onto the bridge. If so, it was rare and usually due to a wreck on the bridge westbound or the light on Nicholson not being synchronized or controlled for a big event (Bayou Country Superfest).

I only pass during the week but I would think during football season it’s a problem. Or maybe it’ll encourage drivers to exit there if going to LSU instead of Dalrymple while that construction work is going on.

This intersection is a fricking abomination now. What an absolute failure by BR.

Yeah, they have really messed up on this but what did we expect? I will say that it has been better the last 3 days but still not great. I go through the light and take River Road. If they had created a dedicated lane for those of us doing that it would help. Ultimately, the problem is that the left turn signal only lets 3-4 cars through. If an 18 wheeler is there, and a LOT come that way, it may only be the one truck. It’s about as bad coming the other way for me in the morning. Yesterday I waited 3 light cycles to make my left onto Nicholson from Oklahoma St.

They need to make the light longer, obviously. Another thing they could do is to put censors so the southbound traffic on Nicholson doesn’t get a turning light if no one is there. Every morning I see this. No one is trying to turn left onto Oklahoma from Nicholson yet they stop everyone else for that light. That time could be extended to those on Oklahoma.

Having I-10 compress to one lane is the problem and everyone knows it. I-10 is the main corridor. The state should make I-10 2 lanes with no compression and make the I-110 compress. With this, the barricade on the left could be extended to eliminate I-110 vehicles from using the Terrace Street exit. It ain't rocket surgery.

I think this is a way more functional layout for the highland exit. A light (the one that went away at terrace)should never be at the foot of an exit.

You still get to circle back to Nicholson it’s just one block further.

This is a good move.

Now figure out Hwy 1.

Don’t let trucks enter I-10 at Hwy 1. Make them get in at 415. When they enter at Hwy 1 they have no speed and they can’t build up speed fast enough. Cars back up behind them, try to cut around them, causing other lanes to back up because people slam on their brakes.

Get trucks on at 415 and they can build speed to not cause slow downs. Also, get rid of the light at the foot of the exit going north onto LA one. Too many trucks and UPS try to cut across all the lanes to get to commercial drive. It’s a miracle their aren’t more wrecks there. Force all the trucks to get to commercial dr to do it from 415.
