There was a time not too long ago where I was happy professionally, personally, spiritually and everything was peachy. As of late, I have allowed drugs, alcohol, self destructive behavior and poor decision making to compromise my integrity, dignity and self respect. I have no friends to confide in anymore bc they are all tired of my perpetual pity party BS and refusal to man up and grow up. Which is why I'm here hoping yall can come off the bench and lend some encouragement and maybe even give me a chance at an employment opportunity? I have many skills and intangibles that cannot be taught and I'm an ace at effective communication and math. This is my Hail Mary pass before I just say frick it and throw the few personal effects I still have to my name into my 2000 Honda CRV and just drive to a town out west where nobody knows my name and start over with a clean slate.
Go to a church. It's helped a great deal of people in your same position.

quote:Jesus is the only perfect answer. Avoid AA. You definitely need help with drugs/booze, but AA is a trap. They make you think you are stuck with the disease for life. Addiction to drugs is not a disease; it is a habit. Habits can be changed. Create new, positive habits.
Jesus
Jesus said you must be reborn.

I am pretty sure the op had been up woo night doing coke when he posted this.
his last post was about 3:30 AM ......he's doin it wrong. Typically my "my life in shambles" coke based post happened no sooner than 8:00AM.
Maybe it was his 2nd night without stopping?

So only Christians can recover from substance abuse?
Seems logical.
For the record, I am a Catholic

Talk to somebody. A message board is not the place for this.

Always like you as a poster Sampson, best of luck to you.
Everyone is different, but I've found realistic dreams/goals/ambitions to be fuel to power through low points. That can be going out west if that's what you really want, or it can be maturing and crafting a more healthy life where you are so you can [find a SO, start a career, etc.]
Doesn't even matter if you fully meet them, and they'll shift anyway. Not a fan of throwing out trite quotes from movies, but I fully endorse "hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things."

AA did wonders for me
I was on my mid 20s at the time
It's not what was said but what I saw. Just looking around and seeing all these miserable fricks was enough to make me take a step back and make some changes in my life...

My Mom always told me when shite gets rough to make a list.
Identify what you need to do and write them down.
Give them priorities and tackle them one at a time... It really does help to regain the power behind each "win" when you cross one off.
Good luck.

Is this what banging a government weather controlled conspiracy theorist does to people? I'm sure the sex was great but did she bite your head off after?

Churches and prison. Depends on what enterprise you're pursuing, I suppose.

Regardless of all this free, helpful and sure-to-work advice, you will NEVER find lasting peace and
happiness without a right relationship with God, which is achieved only through Jesus Christ.
Don't be deterred by all the negative responses you will see concerning this post. You have tried all the worldly things available to try to find success, peace and happiness. Has it worked? Obviously not, according to your own account of your life.
The bible says 'Seek and you will find." You want answers to your problems? "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these other things will be added unto you."
You have nothing to lose by seeking redemption from God through Jesus Christ. Seek the truth. If it turns out to that Jesus Christ was a phony, then you have lost nothing. According to nonbelievers you will just fade into oblivion when you die.
ON THE OTHER HAND IF JESUS CHRIST IS THE SON OF GOD AND BECOMES YOUR SAVIOR, YOU HAVE MADE THE SMARTEST DECISION OF YOUR ETERNAL LIFE - FOREVER IS A VERY LONG TIME!
Don't let Rex talk you out of this.
