My wife has this sounds phobia too. Turns out she was analyzing every sound the first time we dined together on a date.

Thank goodness my parents taught me good manners, our history would have been forever altered.

I have such a problem with this I almost have involuntary physical reactions. I was sitting at a red light a few weeks ago and looked over and the girl in the car next to me was eating fries with her mouth open. I couldn’t even hear it but it still made me want to yell at her.

because some people refuse to, or are just too ignorant to know better themselves, to know how to raise their children with manners or any understanding of how to act around others.

proper eating habits is just one small example of that

my brother always had a problem with that(a bit slow)

however it didn't end with just an open mouth...he added additional sound effects.

If he was eating cereal he would slurp the milk out of the spoon and start smacking(we ate cereal almost everyday before school)

He eats everything almost the same way. chicken and pork chops to the bone and then goes to town on his fingers

I love food but I hated eating at the dinner table.
