I bounce among 4 offices...N.O., B.R., Laffy, and Mandeville, and deal with employees and customers throughout south LA and MS...sales, yes, but not medical/surgical.
The cars hold up very well, and maintenance is minimal--it's just the tires man, the tires...
(I replace all 4 tires every 6 months--24-25k miles and they have threads coming out)
...and windshields (effing dump trucks!)

A Q50 is not in the same league as a similar spec'd BMW or Audi.
A friend of mine just picked up a q50, its a fantastic value. It's a completely different car than an s4; bigger, less performance and a lot cheaper. A q50 is the perfect compromise for a guy with a family that wants something slightly sporty and luxurious, but he needs something bigger than a 3 series, a4/s4 etc. I plan in getting one for my wife at the end of the year.
To the guy that has the SQ5.... How do you like it, what did you shop it against? It will probably be what I get after my S5 lease is up.

Soft compounds just don't last at all in any kind of spirited driving. Plus, the heat eats them up.

Traded my LR4 for a hardtop convertible 335. I love it.

Just as many 3 series available. Your driving experice will be better, but your q50 hybrid gets way better gas, less maintence cost, just as sporty on the inside, better reliability, cheaper tires, and personally I think they look better. The 3 series are small. I'd prefer a 4 series, but than you lose out on the engine power, if you jump to the 5 series the price increases 15k.

The Q50 hybrid starts at almost $48k. It's not the bargain you're trying to make it. And have fun when the batteries need replacing. Nissan's way behind in the hybrid game compared to Toyota.
ETA: And look at this glowing review form Motor Trend:
quote:
Though impressive on paper, this performance hybrid is ultimately in need of a rethink. Markus sums up the 2014 Infiniti Q50S Hybrid best: "I get the sense that they've built this car to appeal to feuding couples where one party wants a hybrid, the other a sports car. I can assure them that both will be disappointed."

I only recommend the hybrid if you care about gas mileage. The q50 is way cheaper than the 3 series. Too each his own though. I just would never buy or even lease a three series. On the other hand I would buy a q50.

And FWIW i dont care what motortrends says, I have driven both vehicles... Have you?

I love it. I don't feel as connected to the road as I did in my Porsche. The steering and feel of the road just isn't quite the same. That is my only complaint and it's nit picking. Don't get me wrong. The SQ5 handles very well although it's a touch top heavy. The Macan is in another league when it comes to handling. It's sports car handling in a CUV.
It was up against the Macan mostly. I thought about the Jeep but it just didn't match the interior of the Audi although the performance was certainly there. The Macan was just coming out when I got the Audi and I simply couldn't pass on the deal I got.

Porsche's are my favorite. Maybe that's why I dont have a mercedes or the beloved 3 series

It's really not though. When comparing apples to apples (Q50S to 335 M sport), the starting MSRP is within $4000. So not even a 10% difference. And with the BMW, you're getting a much better driving experience, likely higher resale, and a much better dealer experience.

I actually have (not the hybrid Q50 though). And

I drove a Q50, S4, 335i, and some shitty Acura.
The BMW was the one I bought. The Q50 was by far the least fun. My mom has a G37 coupe that is wayyyyy more sporty than the Q50.

If your financing the vehicle do not get the BMW. You will end up spending way more on the car. I don't think you understand lunchbox, people are entitled to their own opinion. I would never buy a 3 series becuase the 5 and 7 are way better to me. Even the 428i and the 640i gran coupes are better to me (hate the backs on the 640 and 650). I would never purchase a mercedes, BMW, or jaguar/range rover. I would only lease these cars because I would not want to incur the maintence costs that are lurking down the road. BMW... That's bullshite.
My Rovers never ran that high for basic upkeep. The BMW hasn't needed one yet.

Depends on the Rover. Its a sport version with a turbo V6. If so you should have no problems. Simply stating I wouldnt buy one, I would lease one.

How does that only affect the BMW?

I understand that just fine. You're opinion is an extreme minority, and is shown to be wrong by just about every measure possible. That doesn't un-entitle (not a word, I know) you to it, but it doesn't mean I can't disagree with it either.

And you say the 3 series is a bad financial move

I'm guessing you'd actually never buy any of these cars regardless. The people that do buy them disagree with pretty much everything you say.

Not for 4 years or 50,000 miles.
