So, do you wish your grandfather had talked about WWII with you? Or are you glad what he probably did, which is say little and leave you wondering? I'd rather hear it direct from the source before they die.

Again, he's run over 500 podcasts which nearly always involve giving someone else a voice (whether it's Marcus Aurelius, or KingBee pilots, or John Stryker Meyer.) Letting Eugene Sledge's son describe what he found in his father's notes (With The Old Breed, I'm sure you have no idea what the book is about,) is somehow gossip and bickering?

Yes, there are douches of all types making money off of social media, including SOF. Is he one of them, no. The podcasts are free and you can choose to buy the protein powders or not (which is approximately 5% or less of each podcast episode.)

Read it in 1982.

As for the rest, feel free to believe whatever you wish to believe. Jocko is a SEAL and a combat veteran, so credit to him for that. It doesn't make him a management guru or a prophet, which some of his fanboys seem to believe.

As for bickering and gossip, look no further than Tim Kennedy vs the rest of the community and the tall tales spun by Shrek McPhee. It's a bad look.

How many of his podcasts have you listened to? Not podcasts about him, but his?

I don't know what industry you're in, but his management principles are repeatedly, with client after client, over decades, the same shite I have seen. Communication. accountability. responsibility, analysis paralysis. That's hocus pocus? Financial services, energy and chem, transportation, retail, it's the same thing, across all of them, that causes issues.

You don't need to be an expert to make shite better. You need to identify ways to get a little bit better, and do them. One of the first things he did in his first book was admit that a blue on blue was his fault.

I'd never heard of Shrek McPhee until just now, but he has a book out, like all silent professionals. Meanwhile, a Delta, "Hoot" (Black Hawk Down) was interviewed in 503 (Aug 27 2025) and they had a fine time, but Hoot doesn't have a book.

What will make you satisfied? Is it nearly a hundred non SOF dudes, from battalion commanders, to team mate's wives, to regular 11Bs? When is it good enough for you? Or does Tim Kennedy set your narrative?
