1:30am is when I would start raising questions. I see kids walking around Mid City near Jesuit that late sometimes. I would have called the cops if they came up to my front door

A few years ago in Dallas the doorbell rang at about 9:30 pm. Go to the door and there are three older kids, maybe 17 or 18. Through the door I ask what they wanted - one said he used to live in our house and wanted to show his friends. I told them to go away and in the meantime the wife called 911. The one kid was somewhat persistent and said they only wanted to look around. I told them the cops were on the way and they got the shite out of there. Police car drove up just a few minutes later. Cops said they were probably casing the neighborhood.

A quick true story: my dad has a rather large home on the Gulf Coast. He went out one night and came home around midnight and went to sleep. He was awoken in the middle of the night to someone ringing his doorbell. Of course he draws his gun and peeks out an upstairs window and sees a vehicle he doesn't recognize and proceeds to call the police. While waiting on the police, gun drawn, he spots that the person has made his way to the back of the house and up a staircase onto a second floor outdoor balcony. The police show up and grab him downstairs while he pleads that he knows the owner of the home. It's a guy my dad has never seen before of course.
So he goes to check his video feed. And about an hour or so after he left, around 6ish, the same guy pulled into his driveway, popped his hood, and ran the hose into it. He then walked around the house looking though windows and checking doors. He stayed for a couple hours and even got into the hot tub. Which took the story to an extremely bizarre level.
They didn't find a gun on him or in his car and I believe he was only charged with trespassing. It miffs us to this day what the frick was going on but it was a pretty scary deal.
