Leaving the beach right now with our recent grads (twins) for our last beach vacation until they enter the Maritime Academy in August.

All of your words are ringing true. Those memories are like wave after wave of seeing those precious moments in the rear view mirror.

In a weird place brother…..emotional.

Thanks for the post.

The point to all this, a word of advice to all OT parents who still have kids at home. First, cherish the time you have them. It’s a lot more brief than you know until they’re grown. Second, spend as much time with them as you can. There will come a time when you wish you could. And third, let them be little as long as possible. They only get to be kids once. Before you know it, the little snaggle-toothed kid in footy pajamas asking you to read them one just more bedtime story, will be an adult going out into the world on their own. And when that happen, of course you’ll be both proud and happy for them. But it will hurt. Make no mistake, it will hurt. It will break your heart.
Yup. To this I would add: don't EVER wish it was a later time or date than it is. Trust me, the future WILL come. The present moment may be tough, but as the saying goes, the days are long but the years are short. Just try to marinate in the present as much as you can. Easier said than done, I know. Several of mine are getting close to leaving the nest and I'm already a puddle.

Yep. I remember ever year at his birthday, I’d always think how I’d miss him being 2, then 3, then 4, and so forth. Each age brought new joys and challenges. As he grew and matured, I had to do the same as his father. It’s funny how it’s through raising our children, the final maturation into our own true manhood comes.

I was 11-B and went to Benning. Back in 1984 it was 13 weeks with basic and AIT together as one training. Why longer now? 9 more weeks is a pretty good bit of added time. Congrats to him.

Working on it for you. Haven't had written something proper in...probably a decade or more. So used to typing. Hand is killing me serves me write for leaning on technology so heavily.

Anyway, I know my handwriting is No calligraphy, but it's honest, and painful. So it's real. Hope you like it. I'll mail you the original when it's finished.

Also, what was the number?

The number in football yall both shared.

I was just going to write it in the margin. Don't have to though.

I'm doing minimal edits, just some changes for flow.

I'm finding that, though I'm cramping like a bastard, I can kind of make the pen and the script and the ink give the words that little extra bit of poignancy it's hard to get on a screen. Making progress

Finished.

Hope you like it

Um I don’t think it’s the liberals downvoting, from reading the entire thread it looks like the downvotes are coming from the extreme starboard crowd.

I am going to get down votes like crazy for this but oh well.

I am surprised you let your son join the military in this day and age. Knowing how corrupt and fricked this country is. Right along with the military, go watch some of the interviews done with the Navy Seal they tried to lock away for life. Not to mention all the woke bs. I would damn near pay my son to not go into the military and give the POS criminals in DC the keys to his life.

I like you models btw.

Thank you and all your fellow soldiers for your service.
