Wanted to give a thanks to probably you and all the other truckers that gave little yammie250f a solid horn honk when given the signal! Very much appreciated. I was actually kind of disappointed when my kids got older and didn't want to do it anymore. Would break up a boring long drive on an open road.

It was a reference to an old John Anderson song from 40 years ago. I knew it would be a long shot…..but a couple of people got it.

the speeding truckers are mostly all owner operators. They have no governor. Company's based on their rating with their insurance will be a certain top speed that is allowed. We have a program that once you hit a million miles(roughly 7/8 yrs) with no accidents your governor is set to 68 with Top cruise speed of 70. The notion there is that if you drive safely for a million miles, they will trust you going 70 safely.

Interstate speed in South Dakota is 80 mph. Knowing a semi can't top 70, there is no reason for a truck to ever be in the left lane. I wish they'd pass a law making it illegal for semis to be in the left lane.

Two trucks drag racing for 10 miles blocking traffic is a scourge.

ive witnessed many truckers who are owner operators drive 70 plus. In Georgia a semi cannot be in the left lane at all. Strickly enforced. Most other states , a semi can only be in left lane to pass only. The question has been asked several times why are truckers going 1 mile an hour faster than the truck they are passing. It's because several different companies have different top speeds of 63/64/65/66/67/68. Your witnessing a truck going 65 to pass someone going 64. Law needs to be in place where ALL trucks need to be the same speed. Problem solved.

Tbh, cars/pickups are an even bigger problem. Many cars that people don't realize is, they drive way under the limit. If limit is 70, some drivers drive 63mph or 58mph or 65mph etc. It's not just a semi issue, it's a people issue.

Any semi mechanics out here?

There are probably over 160 check points at least that I can name during a pretrip inspection that a person can name. Crazy thing is they give you a max of 90 points of which you only need 67 points(pick 67 things and name them) to pass the exam. Within those 67 points you have to get the last 6 things(can't remember exact amount) correct when doing your in cab for the brake test(test for leaks etc).

3 parts to the test. Got to know parts of the semi/trailer.
Tractor
Trailer
In cab inspection.

I made a 99. I cant remember why I didn't make a 100. I'm no mechanic but I can name some shiate

I do listen to radio. Bigly. funny thing is I don't actually listen to trucker music. I do listen to a combo of hard rock/rap/country.

ahhh got ya. I've never really understood the mystique of having a cb radio or a hand held one. I don't know any drivers that use them. I have waze for upcoming situations, trucker gps for navigation, weather radio channels built right into the truck's am/fm/wr and lastly a cell phone/headphones for coms if needed. I guess I wasn't in that generation where the 2 way radio(hand helds or cb) was key to understand it.

What kind of fuel mileage do you get? Pulling a fully loaded trailer how long can you go before you have to refuel?
