Jesus Christ, this place...
he's not wrong in this case.

a nice, true beach vacation with a decent place on the beach, a couple dinners, and any sort of activities is out of reach for most people these days.

The idea that vacationing in fricking Alabama is fancy is hilarious to me.

i mean how can you beat waking up in the morning, having coffee on the balcony before everyone else wakes up, then going for a morning run on the beach and then cooking breakfast for everyone.

One of my favorite parts is the coffee.

Also, I am fortunate enough to just go with my family, no extended family. That makes it so much better.

We have small kids and also fortunate enough to get a house on the beach. I think one of the worst things prior to getting a house directly on was hauling of all the stuff. The only hauling we do is the day we pull up and getting everything out. Just sits under the house the entire trip now.

We did 2 weeks this last summer and it was a game changer over 1. Just doing 1 this year but will try to a 2 weeker again in 2023.

i do find peopel that like the beach usually fall into 2 catagories

1) are poor and its all they can afford and plopping their fat arse down and doign nothing is amazing to them

2) they are middle to wealthy and love spending time with thier kids and are just able to have fun no matter what.

A really embarrassing take. Imagine paring the beach down to simple economics. shite, everything you described can be done in any city, anywhere, not just the beach.

The alternatives to "the beach" aren't cheap. Maybe you need to get out more. Anything is expensive if your tastes are such to where you can't enjoy simple things.

If it takes you an upper middle class income to enjoy things, you have major problems.

Nothing like the high class of popping a keurig pod into the machine in your 8th story 2 bed condo before throwing a couple eggos into the Black and Decker toaster on your way out the door to your rented chairs 3 feet away from a fatass from Brookhaven.

I like the beach if it's tulum or something, but acting like the seaweed infested, hot as balls beach in fricking Alabama is some getaway is a joke.

The beach definitely isn't cheap. A house on the beach runs 5-15k a week. Most about 7-12.

exactly. if you're stuffing a bunch of people in a small high rise condo or staying off of the beach, i can see why you wouldn't like the beach so much.

no but it makes things much nicer.

i prolly wouldnt like the beach either if i was doign like i did when i was 25 and have 3 families in a 1200 sf condo. that sucks.

but if you each have your own or have 2 families in a 4k sf condo or you get a huge house....yea its pretty awesome.

you dont need those things to have fun but it makes it much nicer.

obviously the beach can be had for much cheaper as evidence by many who go. but the nicer beaches and nicer towns along 30a cost a pretty frickign penny to the tune of 5k+ for a week just for the condo. really really nice condos like penthouses are in the 10k range.

and yea you can do those things in any cuty but its also very relaxing doing it along the beach or the mountains.

like i said, i have always had fun on every single vacation we have taken and could enjoy anywhere. But i do like nice things.

oh and ftr you might want to check pricing along the gulf coast..sure you can get a condo for cheap but anything worth a shite is gonna be money dude. Im talking $500+ a night during the summer non holiday weekends. really nice places are going to be 1k+ if you have any size family. unless you are just packing them in.

From Memorial Day to Labor Day 2021 it was almost impossible to find a vacancy on the beach from Gulf Shores to the east end of the FL panhandle. Condos were averaging $7k per week. MST of those vacationing were just average middle class families.

To you. Not everyone needs to spend 10k for a beach vacation to enjoy themselves. If you have to spend that to enjoy the beach, maybe you have overrated the experience.

I don't live on the beach but I live close enough to it in Orange Beach to know to go anywhere else I can find to go on a holiday weekend.

The places I could go for $7k that isn’t Gulf Shores. Seriously.

And I like the beach. We went to St.Pete/Tampa pretty much every summer until my Mom got sick last year staying at some pretty basic mom and pop places on the beach for cheap.

I’ve just reached a point where I want to see other places but I also now have a schedule to accommodate that and am not stuck to strictly summer or spring break for anything more than a long weekend.

no not to me, to everyone. makes it a much nicer to have a bigger place, better area and surrounded by better people.

nobody goes and says....yea next year i want to make sure we stay in a much smaller place on a worse beach.

i didnt say you need it to have fun. in fact i said the opposite. but it does make it nicer.

its like you are arguing for the sake of it.

and i dont need that to enjoy it. but it sure makes it much nicer when i have my own condo with my family that is atleast 3 bedrooms so my kids have a place to stay.

i have done both and in general...nicer the place and more money you spend the better the vacation is.

Its below many (even leveraged out the arse) to do something on a budget. I blame it on women.

You are spending 10k to go to gulf Shores and writing full memos to try to support your ridiculous position.

Odd hill to die on.

the only "ridiculous opinion" here is not liking the beach.
