Growing up in the North East, we lived for these days.

The roads will probably be clear in a couple hours and you do not shovel

Normally you would bust out the snowblower, but with this much snow your northern baws all have plows on their trucks and drive around clearing peoples driveways for $20-$50 a pop.

Way Upstate NY was really pretty in the summers and never really got that hot.

When I was 7 or so the Raleigh area got dumped on - believe it was January 2000. 20 inches. I remember being out of school for 2 weeks. Fun times

Most I’ve had was 13 inches in one day while living in SE Virginia. It was awesome. Also when I lived in DC never knew there was such thing as thunder snow.... it was a thunderstorm with thunder and lightning but it was snowing heavily, happened on my mile walk home from school

That's going to suck when it starts melting.

There are places where you know it is spring because all the frozen dog shite melts and it stinks everywhere.

I’ve seen snow like this once in Alabama back in 93.

There was a lot of snow in Alabama then, but I don’t think anywhere in Alabama got close to 43 inches (other than drifts).

Snow is the worst of the elements. That shite won’t melt for months. It used to be like clockwork in Iowa: major snowfall, temps drop, winds kick up, and next thing you know there are 6-10 foot snow drifts.

You probably had one of the highest totals in the state. The highest official, non-drift measurement is 20” I believe. That was in Walnut Grove, AL.

The highest total in entire U.S. from the 1993 Storm of the Century was 69” on Mt. LeConte in the Smokies.

I was nearby for that one. We lived in the valley and I only remember seeing 12-14 inches. School was closed for two weeks, power outtages lasted a month. The National Guard was hauling people out in Humvees that were buried up in little dirt road hollers with no food, water, or power.

This for an area that despite the mountain connotation maybe sees 3-4 snowfalls a year. School gets out for an inch or less.
