Everybody knows the flock and the shepherds head down to Florida for some time off in the winter.

Shepherds still tend their flocks in the fields in winter in that area to this very day.

Jesus wasn't born anywhere near this time of year anyway.
It's a teaching moment. Utilize the moment to celebrate the birth of Jesus.....whether on that day or not, use the moment to teach and celebrate.

According to ancient tradition. Catholics have been celebrating December 25 as the traditional birthday of Christ since at least the third century. The Orthodox - which broke away from the Catholic Church in 1054 - have long celebrated his birthday on January 6. So clearly there is some validity to the idea that he was born in early-winter.

Why is the date such a stumbling block for you.
Does it matter or make you have doubts if the church placed the feast of the nativity on the winter solstice intentionally to signify and celebrate the the seminal moment in history when God was born in the form of a man and brought the light of hope to all mankind?

You clearly don’t understand Jesus, Christianity, and the peace, love, and joy of God. Advent and celebrating the Lord is the best time of year.
