I've never seen another weapons system that's given the American public more sense of false security more so than the drone. Are they effective at certain tasks over undefended airspace? Yes. Would they be effective in a war against any foe with any sort of air defense on anything above a 1940's level of technology? No.

I know they have weapons. Won't do any good though when they're shot down long before they ever reach their target.
Like I said, drones are effective for what they were designed to do. But that does not include breaking through defended airspace to reach and hit a target. They'd be wiped out with ease by just about any halfway modern air defense system.
ETA: and by "half way modern", I mean any system developed since the 60s or even 50s.

you would need to define your war.
if the propaganda is excellent, and the cause interesting, most people will go along with it.
people are not as gullible now because Bush had Powell duped about the yellow cake. the powers that be would have to convince people the cause is real and just.

I can't believe how much faith some people still put in technology when it comes to some of this stuff. It definitely provides strategic advantage, but it does not win wars by itself. If it were a truly massive conflict, especially on home soil,
Want to negate drones? That's less difficult than you think. Attack spare parts depots and manufacturers. Kidnap drone pilot families and kill them if necessary. Sabotage certain mines. Use ice to negate thermals (something the insurgents in Iraq figured out very quickly, actually). Etc. Etc.

I wouldn't want the majority of millenials anywhere near a military uniform or weaponry. We're very fortunate that SJW's also happen to be raging pussies and anti-war. Let's keep it that way
